The Ogahi award was established in honor of Muhammad Reza Ogahi, a representative of the great literature of Uzbekistan, a famous poet, historian and translator. This award is one of the prestigious awards that deserve the highest recognition in the eternal life of Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the award development of Uzbek literature, support of young and experienced writers, recognition of works that deeply reflect the national culture and their dissemination to a wide readership. The award gives modern writers an opportunity to show their creativity, get inspiration for creating new works and promote the national cultural heritage more widely.

Each year, the Ogahi Award is presented in various literary fields, including:

• Prose - The works of novelists, stories and short stories are evaluated. The prose genre was enriched with the best works reflecting the national history and culture.
• Poetry - The creativity of poets and their works written in a unique style are recognized. In poetry, the art and artistry of the word is especially appreciated.
• Dramaturgy - Emphasis is placed on the work of the creators of stage works, dramatic stories and plays.
• Documentary literature - The research approach and scientific method of the writers of historical and biographical loss are specially recognized.

In order to become a candidate for the Ogahi Award, writers present their works and bring them to the attention of the jury. The jury consists of well-known literary critics, writers and scientists, who thoroughly analyze each work and evaluate it in terms of creative approach, content, artistic value and impact.
